I am loving settling into this community on Substack. There are so many brilliant creators, and I am being inspired everyday to create, cook or learn something new.

Each month I will pull together my curation of what I am loving into a themed dinner party, with tableware and additional ideas to round it out. This is going to be so fun to see how these evolve over the year. Pour yourself a glass of wine and join me at The Acre Substack Dinner Party May.

Setting the Table

May has brought with it vibrant greens, delicate blooms and the first of the spring harvests. A punchy pink from a radish or rhubarb stalk contrasts with the enveloping green, inspiring a table set in warm and intense hues. This month the garden is still waking up, harvests are small and greens are in abundance. We are still dipping into our pantries to fill in the gaps and create spreads worth dragging a baguette through. This dinner party would be set outside under the blooming branches of the apple trees in my back yard, a later afternoon affair to savor the warmest part of a spring day and lounge with friends and family for hours, eating olives, crispy fried blooms and buttery beans. As the sun starts to dip low, plates are gathered and guests head inside, for one more glass of Rose and a slice of warm rhubarb custard pie with a fire in the fireplace and the windows open, savoring the warmer days and colder nights.
